Frequently Asked Questions
What is your purpose?
Our purpose is to inspire and educate citizens, scientists, and beekeepers to identify negative human impacts on our honeybee and pollinator populations and offer solutions to those impacts.
What do you specialize in?
We specialize in education on apiculture, hive monitoring, eco-tourism, pollution solutions, and techniques for increasing food security via honeybee health globally.
What is food security?
Food security is defined as the state of having reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable nutritious food. CLICK HERE to see a list of crops in Alaska that highly benefit from honeybees and local pollinators!
Why are bees important for food security?
Nearly all of the food that humans and animals consume is entirely dependent on the pollination of plants in our world. This pollination is predominantly completed by your local bees. Without bees, plants and crops would not be pollinated efficiently, and there would not be enough food available as a result. If you enjoy having food on your local grocery store shelves, then you're going to want to be a part of keeping our honeybee and pollinator populations alive.
How can I be a part of keeping our bee and pollinator populations alive?
The MOST beneficial thing that you can do through the Alaska Honeybee Sanctuary is to become a Bee Beneficial Member and create improvements on your own property so that pollinators have safe plants for nourishment and shelter. Our annual membership fee is only $20.00, and we can assure that your contribution goes a long way for creating bee beneficial spaces.

Are there any other ways that I can make a difference?
Yes! Whether or not you are a financial donor, the Alaska Honeybee Sanctuary appreciates you spreading the word that we exist! The most valuable contribution that you can give is the spreading of information and education so that we can keep our honeybee populations alive worldwide. Feel free to share our website on any platforms that you can, and to subscribe to our newsletter that contains information on ways that you can have a positive impact on your local environment for bees.
